Lavasa presents the pioneering event - the first Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards (MIFTA). On the occasion of the golden jubilee year of Maharashtra, the Marathi film and theatre industry awards are being held at an international location for the first time. MIFTA awards will be held in Dubai on 17th December 2010.

This award ceremony will be attended by approximately 1500 guests including the distinguished personalities of the Marathi cinema and theatre fraternity. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan will grace this occasion as the chief guest. While the well known television channel, Zee Marathi will be covering this event along with the leading Marathi publications.

The MIFTA awards will take Marathi theatre and films to an international level. As a pioneering city development project in Maharashtra, Lavasa is proud to present this exceptional event. Lavasa is actively associated with arts and culture with the most recent event at Lavasa being “Literature Live”. This highly successful event was held in association with Times of India.

Organized by Mahesh Manjarekar, famous veterans of the Marathi film and theatre community like Mahesh Kothare, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Sachin, Kiran Shantaram are a part of the judging panel.

After the awards ceremony, a celebrity cricket match will be held on 18th December between Lavasa XI and MIFTA XI at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Post the event, key celebrity artists and organizers will hold a celebration party at Lavasa on 23rd December.
