Lavasa Women's Drive 2010 - Awards Ceremony

Being the most widespread form of cancer found among women, every year India records about 200,000 new cases and 47,000 deaths due to cancer. And hence, the winners are going to donate their rewards towards Woman’s Cancer Initiative. Like last year, Times of India has supported this entire initiative.

Bollywood lent a helping hand to the cause of breast cancer-affected people and spread public awareness about the dangers associated with cancer on Saturday, when actors Sanjay Dutt and Sharman Joshi rewarded winners of a rally organized here recently. Rakesh Roshan was also present along with wife Pinky daughter Sunaina and daughter-in-law Sussane Roshan.

Dutt, Joshi and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan presented trophies to the winners. The winners who had the opportunity of receiving their trophies from Sanjay Dutt also wanted a hug and Sanju obliged much to their delight.

In this regard Dutt stated that "I want to say that awareness (about cancer), I think, came after my mother (actress Nargis Dutt) passed away and my father (actor Sunil Dutt) thought that people of the country should have the same kind of treatment." Devieka Bhojwani who was also present for the event took to the mike and spoke with passion about cancer, a subject close to her heart.

Besides the prizes to the winning team Deepa Damodran with her navigator Anisha Lanewala, the second runners-up Parvati Somayaji and Geeta Singh and Harshada Shah and Vyoma Manseta in third place, prizes were also given to the youngest participants, the best dressed car, the best message, the woman with the best hair and refreshing face.

Twist and shout thats what the whirl of women were doing as they moved and grooved to the songs of Anushka Manchanda who really rocked at the Lavasa Women’s Drive 2010 awards night.
